EU Contribution: 85%
SEEMIG partnership involves 27 partners from 10 SEE countries.
Project Lead partner: Hungarian Central Statistical Office
Project duration: 1 June 2012 – 30 November 2014 (30 months)
Apart from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, project partners from Serbia that participate in this project are the Municipality of Kanjiža and the Institute of Social Sciences from Belgrade.
SEEMIG principal aim is to promote better understanding of long term migratory, human capital and demographic processes in the South East Europe (SEE) area, as well as their effects on labour markets and national/regional economies, all in order to enable public administrations to develop and implement respective policies and strategies by using enhanced datasets and empirical evidence. It is necessary to create statistical databases to support developing demographic, migratory and labour market processes in SEE, which are essential for designing effective local, national and regional strategies.
Specific objectives:
- Compile data from various sources to serve as bases for predictive analysis of processes of migration;
- Develop foresight scenarios and projections to predict demographic and migratory processes;
- Build capacities of local and regional government bodies to upgrade collection and utilisation of their statistics;
- Elaborate conceptual framework for modelling longer term demographic and migratory profiles;
- Organize workshops and focus groups envisaged for decision makers, with the aim to create draft versions of local, national and regional strategies.
