Preschool education and upbringing

Statistics of pre-school education provides data on the number and capacity of pre-school institutions, number of educational groups, age and sex of children and length of stay, language of performing the activity, on children with disabilities and on employees by sex, working hours, level of education and type of job.

In 2024/25 school year, total of 235 344 children attended preschool education and upbringing. Out of them, there were 114 139 girls (48.5%) and 121 205 boys (51.5%). There were 59 797 (25.4%) children aged from six months up to 3 years and 175 547 (74.6%) children from 3 years up to the age of starting school.
