Data on secondary education statistics are obtained from the database of Ministry of Education – the Register of the Unified Information System of Education (JISP). The data for the end of the school year reflects the status as of September 30, while the data for the beginning of the school year reflects the status as of December 20, 2024. Any changes made to the JISP database after these dates are not included in the data published by the Statistical Office.
According to data from the beginning of the 2024/2025 school year in the Republic of Serbia, a total of 231,171 students attended high school education, 229,648 in regular schools, 1,523 in schools for students with developmental disabilities. Almost 98% of students attend classes in public secondary schools, while slightly more than 2% of students attend private schools.
At the end of the 2023/2024 school year in the Republic of Serbia, a total of 229,960 regular students attended classes. Furthermore, 57,756 students graduated from regular high school. The largest percentage of them (57.7) completed a four-year secondary vocational school, 28.2% completed a high school, while 14.1% of secondary school graduates completed a 3-year secondary vocational school. Young people who graduated from professional schools were most interested in profiles from the field of work "Electrical engineering" (12.2%), "Economy, law and administration" (11.8%), "Health and social protection" (9.8%) and "Machinery and metal processing" (8.7%).
