In 2018 in the Republic of Serbia, the number of live births was 63 975, while the number of deaths amounted to 101 655. The natural increase was -37 680.
By order of birth, the most numerous were first-born children - 30 327 (47.4%) and second-born ones - 22 870 (35.7%). Observed by age, first-born children were born mostly to mothers aged 25-29, while second-born children were born to mothers aged 30-34. Most births were in July, August and October.
In the Republic of Serbia, according to data for 2018, there were 101 655 deaths registered (51.9% men and 48.1% women). The average age of deaths was 75.2. The leading causes of death were diseases of the circulatory system, which took 51.8% persons of the total number of deaths. The second most frequent cause of death related to cancer which claimed the lives 21.7% persons of the total number of deaths, and diseases of the respiratory system were the third cause of death, of which 5.2% persons died.
