Gender Equality Index in the Republic of Serbia, 2021

On 20 October 2021 at the Palace of Serbia we held the presentation of the Gender Equality Index, which is the instruments for measuring the progress in achieving gender equality in the EU countries and the candidate countries.

The Gender Equality Index in the Republic of Serbia was prepared by the Coordination body for gender equality of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Team for social inclusion and poverty reduction of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the UN Women agency in cooperation with the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).

The report on Gender Equality Index is based on the Gender Equality Index methodology that was developed by the European Institute for Gender Equality from Vilnius, Lithuania for the EU Member States. The data used for the calculation of the Gender Equality Index for Serbia relate to 2018 as the referent year.

The third index for the Republic of Serbia equals 58 percentage points, which indicates the progress in achieving gender equality by 2.2 p.p. when related to the previous index calculated in 2018, i.e. by 5.6 p.p. when compared to the year 2016.
