The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January- April 2023 amounted to:
- USD 23632.9 million - which was a decrease of 0.3% compared to the same period last year;
- EUR 21944.7 million - which was an increase of 3.3% compared to the same period last year.
The value of exports amounted to USD 10399.9 million, which was 9.2% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 13233.0 million, which was 6.7% decrease relative to the same period last year.
Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 9657.7 million, which was 13.1% increase, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 12287.0 million, which was 3.3% decrease when compared to the same period last year.
The deficit amounted to USD 2833.1 million, which was a decrease of 39.1% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 2629.3 million, which was a decrease of 36.9% compared to the same period last year.
The export - import ratio equalled 78.6% and was higher if compared to the same period last year when it was 67.2%.
The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 59.7% of total external trade.
Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 899.7 million, resulting mainly from the exports of electricity, cereals and produces thereof, iron and steel, beverages and electrical machines and apparatus. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 1526.1 million, while the imports were USD 626.4 million. The export– import ratio equalled 243.6 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 1417.1 and imports to 582.4 million (surplus amounted to EUR 834.7 million and export – import ratio equalled 243.3%).
