Economic trends in the Republic of Serbia, 2024


The total economic activity of the Republic of Serbia in 2024, measured by the real movements of the Gross domestic product (GDP), was estimated to made the growth of 3.9% when related to 2023.

In 2024 gross fixed capital formation recorded the real growth equalling 9.2% in comparison to 2023.

In 2024 agricultural production made the physical volume fall of 8.8%. In 2024 industrial production expressed the growth of 3.0%, and manufacturing – the growth of 4.4%.

The value of construction works carried out in 2024 expressed the real growth of 8.6% in comparison to 2023. Retail trade turnover recorded real growth equalling 5.9%, while the wholesale trade turnover increased by 5.0% in nominal terms. When 2024 is related to 2023, external trade in goods expressed in euros indicated the growth of exports by 1.7%, and the growth of imports by 5.6%. Within the section of accommodation and food service activities, in 2024 the real growth of catering industry equalling 8.3% was estimated, while the number of tourist overnight stays increased by 1.4%. When 2024 is related to 2023, transportation expressed physical volume growth of 9.3%, and for telecommunications recorded was physical volume fall of 0.9%.

According to the data of the Labour Force Survey, in the third quarter 2024 the rate of employment equalled 51.9%, while the rate of unemployment equalled 8.1%.

When 2024 is related to 2023, average salaries (wages) taxes and contributions deducted increased by 14.2% in nominal terms, and by 9.2% in real terms.

The estimated annual inflation rate equals 4.3%.
