The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS), in cooperation with UNICEF, with financial assistance from UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Republic of Serbia and other partners, is conducting the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7) in the Republic of Serbia.
In the period from 5th to 31st May 2025, SORS associates will conduct mapping and listing of households on the territory of the Republic of Serbia. In the selected enumeration areas, all facilities and all households living in that territory will be recorded. Special attention will be paid to households that have at least one child under the age of five.
In the visited enumeration areas, SORS associates will have ID cards with UNICEF and SORS logos. The card will have the associate's photo, ID number and work authorization. Associates will also have a household letter with them.
MICS7 is being conducted on a representative sample as two surveys: one will cover 8 000 households of the national population, and the other 2 000 households of the population in Roma settlements. The main survey will be conducted from mid-September to the end of December 2025.
The Survey is focused on collecting the data on the most vulnerable population groups: women and children under 5 years of age, as well as children aged 5–17. The data will relate to early childhood development, immunization, health, breastfeeding and infant nutrition, children's education, early marriages, but also to the health and status of women and men.
For many of these indicators, MICS is the only data source in the Republic of Serbia. MICS is repeated every five to six years and ensures progress monitoring and trends identification.
Individual data collected in all phases of the Survey will be used exclusively for statistical purposes and will be published in aggregated form. All data relating to personal, family, property and economic circumstances of the respondents are considered official secrets, in accordance with the law.
The success of the Survey largely depends on the response and cooperation in the field and the support provided to SORS teams by local government and population.
