In the Republic of Serbia, in 2024, the procedure upon criminal reports was completed for 73 590 adult perpetrators of criminal offenses, which is 1% less than in 2023. 24 835 adult persons were convicted, which is 8% less than the previous year. In 2024, the largest number of criminal offenses for which adult persons were legally convicted concerned criminal offenses against property (22.4%), marriage and family (12.9%), and human health (21.2%). Five persons were sentenced to life imprisonment, and one person to a prison sentence of 30-40 years. The prison sentence makes up 28.8% of all sentences, and the conditional sentence (imprisonment) makes up 42%.
