From 22 to 24 December 2025, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia is organizing the workshop “Smart Data for Smart Decisions: Innovative IT Approach to Statistics at Local Level”.

The workshop is realized within the subcomponent Decision-Making Support System at Local Level (DMSS LL), which is part of the project “EU4SORS – Development of a Modern Statistical System”. The Project is carried out by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia with the financial support of the European Union, through IPA 2022 Programme, aiming at strengthening the capacities of the statistical system of Serbia in providing advanced analytical solutions.

The workshop aims to introduce the participants to all the phases of data analysis within the DMSS LL subcomponent, from the pilot survey to the conduction of the main survey in all local authorities and regional chambers of commerce. Using presentations and through practical activities the following topics will be treated: structure of databases, dataflows, Power BI models and integration of new tools in the decision-making support system, with a special focus on the use of artificial intelligence and machine-learning in data analysis and dissemination.

Group activities will allow the participants to acquire practical knowledge in data modeling and visualization, involving work with modern tools and techniques for processing and presenting complex datasets. Special focus will be on knowledge acquired through concrete practice-based examples, which enables better understanding of the entire process – from data collection to final analysis to reporting.

Discussions will focus on the possibilities of integrating developed tools into the comprehensive decision-making support system at local level, aiming at providing more efficient and quality support to local authorities in planning and management.
