The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS) hosted an official delegation from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) in Belgrade from 4 to 5 February, with the objective of strengthening institutional cooperation and exchanging expertise in the modernization and digital transformation of official statistics.
The Rosstat delegation was headed by Sergey Galkin, Director of Rosstat, and included Deputy Directors Leonid Novikov, Diana Kushkhova, and Ksenia Pavlova.. The delegation of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia was led by the Acting Director of SORS, Branko Josipović, together with the Acting Deputy Director, Vladimir Šutić, assistant directors, and experts responsible for information systems, data integration, statistical production, and dissemination.
The programme commenced with an opening session and institutional presentations outlining the structure, strategic objectives, and current priorities of both statistical offices. Particular attention was devoted to strengthening cooperation with respondents and users, improving data quality, and ensuring the efficient delivery of reliable and timely official statistics.
Working sessions focused on digital ecosystems and contemporary approaches to statistical production. Experts from both institutions presented solutions related to the development of centralized data warehouses, digital platforms for data collection and dissemination, and the integration of administrative and other innovative data sources. Further discussions addressed the automation of primary data validation processes and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in statistical operations.
The visit provided a structured platform for professional dialogue, enabling the exchange of best practices and technical knowledge and supporting the identification of areas for future cooperation. The discussions confirmed shared priorities in building modern, efficient, and sustainable statistical systems aligned with international standards and the evolving needs of data users.
